Illusions of Certainty


The need for sure words from God stem from spiritual lethargy seeking certainty in apparently chaotic options. Here revelatory texts are most effective in maintaining reliance upon external authorities as the dependence upon “a sure word from God” shows little if any tolerance for ambiguity, and manifests a rigidity that is a most salient feature of mechanized cognition.
